~TITSSN~

Good day to you and welcome to our
Annual IT Security Community Outreach Program “COP”.

Every year we, TITSSN, a network of IT professionals, consultants, VARs, business executives and technologists, tries to give back to our communities by becoming a valuable avenue/resource of guidance, counsel and support for those in need of assistance in and with their IT issues. This program is geared towards the development of more education and awareness around IT and securing that user experience while online and offline.

Every day we’re faced with the challenges of new and emerging risks through various forms of technology we use and so we host this yearly program to help foster more awareness and education about these risks and how to secure against them in our local communities. Our members covers all areas of IT and are available as a point of contact/resource for many services and support that will be of benefit and value to you. In the event that they are needed you’re free to request the information, services and support that they provide.

We choose this time of the year, August, because of the summer time and the fact that school is out and more people have time on their hands to participate in the program and make it more effective. We will be hosting a series of events and happenings specific to this program in certain areas of coverage. While we strive to do the best we can, we will not be able to do these events in every area but we hope that as the years progress they will be more available in all areas.

If the proper guidance and counsel can be provided, isn’t this a good time to do it?

Below is a list of participating members/organizations and their information. This information will reflect their locale and the areas of specialties of focus. While we’re more focused on the security side of things, this also entails training and development about the proper use of  messaging (email, IM, txt), web browsing, internet browsing/surfing, SPAM, Phishing, Social engineering and many more.

So, as you can see, we, TITSSN, are making ourselves available to you our community members as a valuable resource for you to turn to if and when needed. It may not be today or tomorrow but we’re here for you.

The website is for all of us no matter where you are and will share the resources of our IT Security forum site as well. That way you will be current and up-to-date with all the present happenings in the IT space. The internet is a great place filled with valuable resources and information but even more, it is a very serious place that is no longer safe nor secure without the knowledge, understanding, proper protective measures and tools. No matter where you are, you're affected by it. No matter what platform you're running Microsoft, Linux, MAC OS or other, there's something out there that puts you at risk and it is through awareness and knowledge that you will survive this new era of Information Technology.

We see IT as a global infrastructure and as such requires everyone to play an active role in its secure implementation, use and value and so no matter who you are, where you're from, where you live or what language you speak, you're a part of the IT community.

Please feel free to call on us if and when needed. We look forward to serving you.

So what do we need from you to join this initiative?

1. Join TITSSN’s initiatives for the fostering further education and awareness of and about IT Security in your community.

2. Help to spread the message of IT Security and the need for us to secure our infrastructure in a unified manner by becoming and advocate, resource, point of contact, advisor, technologist in your community and make known that you’re supporting this for the greater good. Identify your community and share what you’re doing there.

3. (optional) Host/sponsor an event in your community that’s geared towards something IT security related.

The requirements are simple but the cause is great. We need your help and support in making this happen and so if you’re willing to be all that you can be, join our Community Outreach Program and do what you can for it.

Our
Community Outreach Program is also available on the LinkedIn professional network for those who wish to join our initiative and carry on for future programs to come. The group is located here http://www.linkedin.com/e/gis/52383/7F4A8467843C and is specifically geared for participating members of the program.

We're tracking the development and feedback of this program via our blogs site here. You can direct any questions, comments and feedback there and at the end of the program we will aggregate them into one place for future reference.
